Captain: Katie Headley
Playing in: London Premier
The Ladies 1s have been competing in London Prem for the past two seasons. We fought hard each week to keep our spot in the league and even when tough results don’t go our way, we always keep our spirits high.
We can’t wait to get back on the pitch and start it all over again!
If you’re keen to join a friendly, welcoming bunch that love a social and never say no to a post-match pint, get in touch!

Ladies 2s, or better known as the 2022-23 season big gun point champions, have as much fun on the pitch as they do off celebrating at the club house post game. Aside from the social aspect, we are a dedicated team who train hard and give our all at each game. If you are interested in joining, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! We hope to welcome lots of new members for the up coming season.

Playing in: London Division 2 South
Arguably the best team at Wanderers, the Ladies 4s have gone from strength to strength in the past few seasons, finishing a respectable fifth in Division 3 South at the end of the 22/23 season. Captain Flo runs a tight ship, so they work hard and play harder, but always find time for a post match pint. Ladies 4s are a welcoming bunch, and pride themselves on being a close-knit team on and off the pitch. Get in touch if you’re ready to jump aboard!

Newly promoted to: London Division 4
Season Intro:
The M6 impressed last year, being the sole men’s team at Wanderers to lift a title and progress into a new league. This was after some surprising commitment to delivering the brazen claims made by players in pre-season. After tough and secretive executive voting, we were proud to end up being selected as winners of the ‘Wanderers Team of the Year’ in the ‘Runner-Up’ category; hard to recognise any weakness that we meant we were overlooked for in relation to the main prize, but still proud to be recognised.
Having beaten the M5 in a pre-season friendly with a dreamy 11-man matchday squad, we then had a fantastic and fun league season, including some exciting and close games. We then played as the M3 in the England Hockey Men’s Cup, where we experienced our first (and a successful) set penalty shuffles vs Tulse Hill and Dulwich. We enjoyed a great season of player-coach Garth running weekly trainings at Battersea Park (Mon and Tue evenings), where we practiced hockey and mostly unsuccessfully tried to persuade the M5 squad to play a game against us in place of drills. Alongside main coach Garth, we were also honoured to get visited by a current Great Britain star, who led a great special session to get us back into winning ways before taking on the then-league-leaders in a 6-1 win. It was very flattering to also be told that we looked better then the 5s and that some of us looked like we’d played hockey before.
This season (depending on league geographies, we’ll either be in Division 4 (either East or South-West). This means we’ll get to enjoy battling for league positions amongst our M3, M4, or M5 teams. Seeing the M6 moniker as a powerful underdog confidence booster, we are looking forwards to these derbies, as well as our league and knockout cup fixtures.
Ahead of the season, we are running a team (plus friends) tour to Oxford in late August. Staying in one of the beautiful colleges, we’ll be having competitive (competitiveness dependent upon sleep and how Garth’s throat holds up on Saturday night) fixtures against Abingdon HC and Oxford Hawks HC across the weekend. We also hope to enjoy some team bonding, ideally watch some player end up in a river, and sample some the civilised local nightlife.
We’ve got a great squad again for 2025-26, but we are looking to boost this even further by negotiating a couple of extra star signings over the summer to add to our carefully collated mix of experience and raw talent. We are especially looking to recruit STRIKERS, particularly those not allergic to scoring. We also have room for a midfield/defender to help boost ranks. Please get in touch and share your interest in the M6 if this could be you!
If you’re a one-time county hockey Under-11 player and fancy yourself as a superstar who deserves to play far, far higher than Division 4, please get in touch. We’d be delighted to have you join us in underwhelming ourselves and any rare spectators every Saturday.
Recruitment for the 2025-26 season:
What are we looking to recruit for?
- 43 goals: Our star Kiwi and Oranje goalscorers are sadly departing as they leave London. We are looking to replace their impressive goal count by a mixture of recruiting new star talent alongside existing players practicing how to tap the ball in on the far post.
- Enthusiastic and skilful players looking to help us attack our new Division with a friendly and social attitude.
- Comedy value.

Hi! My name is Callum and I’ll be captaining the team this season. We’re a fun mix of characters who are very social on and off the pitch. We unfortunately got demoted from our league last year, but were competitive for a lot of the season. Albeit lacking in numbers at times. So, if you want to join an incredibly social team of good lads, and get lot of game time, we’re certainly the team for you!See you at trials!

Mixed Hockey Secretary: Harry Wilson
Pinned highlight: Summer Mixed Hockey
Each summer (Apr/May until end of July), we play mixed social hockey across two great weekly sessions:
-
- Wednesday evenings (8pm – 9pm, at Battersea Park) from start of May until end of July. Bring a white shirt and a dark shirt and we’ll split into 2 or 4 teams and play a game.
- Sunday afternoons at Kennington Park, where we’ll play alongside players from a mix of clubs (Wanderers, Barnes, Clapham etc). Pay as you play – no need to be a club member. Teams organised via Whatsapp Community the week before each session; please get in touch to join.
Please get in touch (via the normal form) if you’d like to come along – there’s usually plenty of spaces for people looking to get involved! And it’s a good way to meet the club and our players.
Sunday Team Captains:
Optimists: New captain to be acquired/appointed this summer
Sinners: Tessa Hillen
Daqs: Taylor Collier-Brown

Across the normal hockey season (October-March), we play mixed hockey every other Sunday afternoon at Battersea Park. Wanderers field 3 teams (Optimists, Sinners, Daqs) in the friendly mixed hockey league based there, which Harry also organises.
It’s a great way to stretch your legs , hang out with the friendliest players in the club and enjoy some fun and usually close games.
If you’re new to Wanderers, please get in touch via the normal form if you’d like to join, and you’ll be added to one of the 3 teams. If you’re a Wanderer already, speak to Harry or your Saturday captain if you’d like to be added to one of the teams.

After a fun couple of years since re-entering the England Hockey Mixed Championship, we won our first game in the comp for at least 8 years… we are again entering and looking forwards to building upon our successes in our 2025-26 cup run!
We’ll go again next year from November time! Team will again be made up of Wanderers mixed players.

Training
The men’s teams train across Monday and Tuesday evenings at Battersea Park. Each team usually trains for an hour on the astro (sometime between 7pm and 10pm); some of the higher teams also do fitness training.
The ladies teams now all train on Wednesday evenings, at Battersea Park or Kennington Park, depending upon teams. Again, each team trains for an hour on the astro (sometime between 7pm and 10pm); and again, some of the teams also do fitness training in the week or before training.
Training is good fun and a chance to practice and hang out with your mates during the dark winter evenings!
Our mixed teams do not train, but include a lot of our Saturday players, who will often train during the week.
