Events

Wanderers have a good social culture, and the club intends to build on this in the upcoming 2023-24 season. The club’s social secretaries are organising a number of events throughout the season, as listed below. Teams generally also run a variety of events throughout the season and summer. Our first club-wide event will be the Start of Season Oktoberfest themed party on Sat 7th Oct!

  • Cup of Nations, Sat 29th July 2023

    This year’s Club Day, where players compete in a friendly 11 a side mixed cup at Battersea Park. Usually 5 teams reflecting hockey playing nations.

  • Start of Season Social, Sat 7th Oct 2023

    Oktoberfest: Our start of season party, and the first social under the new era of social secretaries Brandon, Nina and Nicci. Date locked in, so clear your diaries and get your fancy dress ready!

  • Knockout Mixed Hockey Cup, Sun 19th Nov 2023

    A true clashing of titans: Wanderers Mixed face off against Spencer Mixed in Round 1 of the England Hockey Mixed Championship. 4:30pm at Battersea Park. Come and support!

  • Christmas Party, Sat 16th Dec 2023

    Fancy dress party a week before Christmas. Held at the clubhouse in Battersea.

  • Spring Social, Sat 17th Feb

    Joint pub social with London Eds HC.

  • End of Season Ball, Sat 6th Apr 2024

    A formal end of season dinner, awards and party, held in Balham. A chance to reflect on the great memories of the season in style.

  • Summer International Hockey, Wed 12th June 2024

    Wanderers HC to head to the Olympic Park to watch Great Britain play Australia (men and women) in the FIH Pro League.

Welcome from our Social Secs!

Hi Hockey lovers and welcome to Wanderers! đź’›đź’ś

We (Nina- L4s, Brandon-M3s and Nicci-L5s) are your social secs for the year! 

Our aim to keep up our “rep” as the most social club in the whole of SW… to do this we need to hear from you and what you want! Reach out to us by using the clubs Instagram, club email or you’ll generally find us in the club house after a game. 

We have multiple socials, in the pipeline, throughout this year including: 

-Start of season (SOS) 

-Christmas social 

-Spring Fling social 

For these socials, we work closey with Dimitri (Manager at South West Eleven, our clubhouse this year) to try and make them as fun as possible. We are kicking off this year with our SOS, where we present to you… Oktoberfest… more deets coming soon!! 

Of course there is also the infamous EOS Ball… We want you to know we have listened to your feedback, and this year are looking for somewhere more local and affordable. Watch this space and we will let you know more, once it’s all locked in!
