LATEST MATCH REPORT: MENS 1ST XI

Battersea Wanderers v Woking HC - Saturday 17th March (away)

A much beleaguered Wanderers team stepped out at Goldsworth Park on a fair day into the relegation lion's den on Saturday.  15 men, good and true, aimed to re-kindle a winning flame which had long since been extinguished by a severe deficiency of motivational Oxygen.

From the first whistle Wanderers showed some great spirit, taking the
game right to the opposition's goal-mouth, testing Woking's defence with a shot across the bows of a stunned Woking back line.  Several attacks later eventually saw the Jacaranda and Buttercups go a goal ahead, and to be honest, they never looked back.

Save for a 15 minute spell in the second half, the South West London
team were in control for the majority of the match testing the Woking
Keeper's reflexes time and again, special mention should go to Daddy Jan with some excellent movement up front, and a completely dominated midfield being expertly contained by Schwarz and Harrison (the former nearly scoring in the first half when the two combined late on).

No mention of missed penalty flicks or driving directions needed as the
Wanderers came away with at least three of the much needed six points from the weekend.

And so to Sunday...
