SPARKLY SIXES MATCH REPORT: SEASON 09/10

Saturday 21st November
Wanderers Ladies 6’s v Croydon Ladies 2s

---------------------------------------

Highlights:

  • We nearly all arrived on time…. see below
  • A new stretch with our arms behind our backs
  • Scoring three times – well done to Steph, Sally (some excitable squealing was heard) and Gilo
  • There being some jelly babies on hand to prevent Steph from nearly fainting at the end
  • We nicked off with the oppo goalies stick and glove at the end (this was by mistake…)
  • Domdom and Bish feeling fresh (with no hangovers or illness lurking)
  • The whole team overcoming their aggressive play in the second half with some fantastic play and serious grit and determination
  • Winning after getting soaked in the rain

Lowlights:
Hangovers:

  • Hawks waking up at 12.30 realising she then had no option but to cycle all the way from Stockwell on her heavy, slow bike. She’s now changed her shifts at the lap dancing club to finish at 2am rather than 5am when we have a game.
  • Moggy looking half asleep with hair a little ruffled, on arrival after an eventful evening doing ‘charity work’ at the jelly wrestling, or was it post jelly wrestling?!
  • Dicko, Gilo and Shilli also sported some mild hangovers as they had been collecting at the event but hadn’t quite taken the charity work as far as Corporal Moggy (she was dressed in an army uniform). Highlight: Dicko had raised £300 for swapping clothes with a punter. She was dressed as a bunny girl at the time, and luckily had got changed before the match.
  • The toilets and lack of loo roll– we thought Battersea Park was bad…
  • General illness: Sufferers included Steph and Ris (in recovery) and Harri in a real bad state.
  • Harri’s post-match sly puke.
  • Steph fainting before driving everyone home.
  • The rain starting at 3pm (as predicted by BBC weather : 12 -3pm cloud, 3-6pm light showers)
  • The general pushing and shoving from Croydon ‘Ladies’ – “this is a NON contact sport”…

General comments:

Player of the Match: Bish – for some encouragement from the back when we all felt a bit low

Dick of the Day: Hawks of course, the in-house lap dancer who let her first night on the pole get in the way of her alarm setting!
